The time has come for me to get my oil changed, well actually it was time about 8,000 miles ago but who's counting?
I love going to the auto shop. It's always a bittersweet experience. You go in for one thing and they want to fix your whole car.
I feel that in the society we live in today, the world revolves around money. (anyone second the motion?) Every company, person, store is trying to sell you their product, service or good and then some. Exerting mass amounts of energy to milk you of all your worth, and to a kid saving for a mission and doesn't have a ton of spending cash, its not alot but that's not the point.
It seems like every time I go to the auto shop there is always something else wrong other than what I initially go in for...ALWAYS!!! I go in for an oil change and they say I need new tires, I go in for new brakes and they say the alternator is shot. I understand that my 1994 Ford Escort Station Wagon with 277k+ miles on it is going to have some problems ( in the last year I have put close to $2,000 into fixing it and keeping it running) but it seems like no matter what the year or the make there is always something else wrong then what you initially go in for...ALWAYS!!! You could drive a brand new 2010 car off the Dealership lot drive it to the mechanic and GUARANTEED they will find something to fix and then charge you an arm and a leg to have it repaired.
I don't mean to be preachy but today it put me over the edge, not to mention that the place I went to prides itself on "The 15 Min Oil Change." I was there for 45 mins, this little incident did not help their cause. My parents famous quote in this situation would be "Welcome to the Real World," and to that I say "Go Pound Sand Real World!" Now I will step down from my Soap Box and tuck myself into bed.
Good Night my Fellow Bloggers, Till Next Time.
